Are you a chain of Kenpo studios?

While all studios listed belong to same organization, each studio is independently owned and operated. This website is a directory service that highlights Kenpo studios that are active members of the American Kenpo Karate International association headed by Mr. Paul Mills.

Who is Ed Parker?

Mr. Ed Parker was the founder of American Kenpo and was a 10th degree black belt. Mr. Parker — originally a black belt under William K.S. Chow— brought the art of CHINESE KENPO from Hawaii to the mainland in the mid 1950′s; eventually modifying it to fit western culture. He based his updates on his street fighting experience, relationships with other martial artists and personal observations. He called his art AMERICAN KENPO and is known for being a practical and logical martial art founded on principles of motion not found in other martial arts systems.

What Kenpo do you teach?

All Kenpo studios listed on this website teach American Kenpo as taught by Mr. Paul Mills — a direct and private student of Mr. Ed Parker. You’ll learn the core of the Ed Parker system including techniques like Five Swords, Thundering Hammers, Gathering Clouds, Twin Kimono and more. However, Mr. Mills has included many things that went previously unaddressed in Mr. Parker’s system including comprehensive knife, stick, and ground related curriculum all based on the principles, concepts and theories of American Kenpo.

How much does it cost?
